ROCHESTER SHOOTING, NEW YORK — Rochester police are investigating an early morning shooting near Cobbs Hill Park that left an 18-year-old man hospitalized after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

According to the Rochester Police Department, officers responded to reports of a person shot in the area around 1:30 a.m. on Friday. When officers arrived, they discovered evidence of gunfire near Monroe Avenue close to Culver Road and an abandoned vehicle that had been struck multiple times by bullets.

Police later located the victim, an 18-year-old Rochester resident, inside Cobbs Hill Park suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency responders transported him to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators said there were no other occupants found in the vehicle and that the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. Authorities also stated that the victim was not fully cooperative with investigators while they worked to determine what led to the incident.

Further investigation led police to a house party on Monroe Avenue, where they believe the shooting may have originated. Officials said the incident likely began near Alliance Street and Monroe Avenue, a short distance from Cobbs Hill Park.

No arrests have been announced, and police have not identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. Officers continue to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses as the investigation develops.
