According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the couple was discovered on June 15, 2026, at approximately 5:46 p.m. inside a Jeep Compass parked on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 5 near Redding. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was still running when officers arrived at the scene.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but both Judy and Wylie Sheldon were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have described the incident as medically related, though the exact cause of death has not yet been determined and remains under active investigation.
