Jack Watkins Obituary, SCIOTO COUNTY, OHIO — A 74-year-old man has died following a serious motorcycle crash in Scioto County, Ohio, after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail, according to authorities.

The victim has been identified as Jack Watkins of Ghent, Kentucky. The crash occurred on April 26, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m. along State Route 125 near milepost 2, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers reported that Watkins was traveling northwest on his motorcycle when, for reasons still under investigation, he went off the right side of the road and collided with a guardrail. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene.

Watkins sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center for urgent treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries, authorities confirmed.

Officials have not released further details regarding what may have caused the crash, and it remains under active investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident.

The crash adds to a series of fatal motorcycle accidents recently reported in the region, highlighting ongoing roadway safety concerns in rural parts of Ohio. Authorities continue to urge motorists and motorcyclists to exercise caution, especially on high-speed rural routes.
