Joe Ellis Obituary – Accident: Joe Ellis, a respected government and business leader, has passed away following an accident while supporting the U.S. delegation at the G7 Meeting in France. His passing was announced by BGR Group on June 18, 2026, which described him as a beloved colleague, friend, and mentor.
Joe joined BGR Group in 2025 and quickly became known for his kindness, humility, encouragement, and dedication to those around him. Colleagues remembered him as someone who brought wisdom, humor, and generosity to every relationship he built.
Throughout his career, Ellis served at some of the highest levels of government and business. He was trusted by multiple U.S. administrations as a lead advance representative for major diplomatic engagements involving presidential travel and international events. His work included helping coordinate President Trump’s 2019 surprise trip to Afghanistan, engagements in Doha, Qatar, the NATO Summit at The Hague, the 2025 United Kingdom state visit, and the recent G7 Meeting in France.
Before joining BGR Group, Joe served as Chief of Staff to Representative Max Miller, held leadership roles at bp, and served as Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Born in Mississippi and raised in Alabama, Joe was remembered as a passionate Alabama football fan who valued people, relationships, and service. BGR Group said his legacy of selfless leadership and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Jerri; his sister Cheryl and her husband Tracey; and his nephew Noah.
In memory of Joe Ellis, BGR Group announced a donation to the Fisher House Foundation, supporting families and caregivers of military members and veterans receiving medical care.
