I-75 South Accident Today: Investigation Underway After Crash Involving Semi-Trucks and Passenger Car in Crisp County

I-75 South Accident Today, CRISP COUNTY, GEORGIA — Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 that caused traffic disruptions and left at least one person with minor injuries on Wednesday, June 17.

According to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred near mile marker 94 on I-75 and involved two semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle. Emergency personnel from Crisp County Public Safety and the Georgia Department of Public Safety responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported.

Georgia State Patrol officials said preliminary findings indicate that one driver was following another vehicle too closely and attempted to avoid a collision by swerving. During the maneuver, the vehicle struck a second car, forcing it into a guardrail. Investigators said the impact caused the struck vehicle to spin and slide partially underneath a trailer being towed by one of the semi-trucks.

Authorities reported that the driver of the impacted vehicle sustained minor injuries. Emergency crews provided assistance at the scene while traffic was slowed for approximately one hour in the right northbound lane as responders worked to clear the wreckage and conduct their investigation.

The crash occurred as wet weather moved through the area. Following the incident, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office urged motorists to exercise caution on rain-slick roads by reducing speed, increasing following distance, using headlights, and avoiding sudden braking or sharp turns.

Officials also reminded drivers to stay alert for standing water and to allow additional travel time during adverse weather conditions. No fatalities were reported in connection with the crash.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Additional details may be released as authorities complete their review of the incident and determine the factors that contributed to the collision.
