LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Authorities have launched an investigation after the body of a man believed to be a suspected stowaway was discovered inside the landing gear compartment of an Airbus A320 aircraft at London Gatwick Airport.

The discovery was made by a cargo handling team at approximately 11:45 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, while unloading an Air Arabia Maroc Airbus A320 that had arrived on Flight 3O102 from Tangier-Ibn Battouta Airport in Morocco.

Emergency services and law enforcement officers responded to the aircraft after airport staff reported finding the body on the tarmac. The incident prompted authorities to secure the area while investigations and forensic examinations were carried out.

Sussex Police confirmed that officers were called after the body of a man was found in the undercarriage of an aircraft arriving from Tangier. Police said an investigation is underway and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.

The discovery caused a temporary delay to the aircraft’s scheduled return flight as specialist teams examined the scene and gathered evidence. Officials have not released further details about the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding how the individual entered the aircraft’s landing gear compartment.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident as they work to establish the full circumstances behind the man’s death. Further information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
