Randall “Randy” Kuntsman Obituary, TAYLOR MILL, KENTUCKY — Randall “Randy” Kuntsman, a 65-year-old Independence man and longtime tow truck operator, was killed Saturday morning, June 20, 2026, in a tragic work-related incident along eastbound Interstate 275 in Kenton County, authorities confirmed.
According to the Kenton County Police Department, Kuntsman was responding to an earlier crash scene near the Taylor Mill area when the fatal incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. He was in the process of loading a vehicle onto his tow truck when the vehicle reportedly began to roll downhill.
Investigators said the tow truck’s movement led to Kuntsman being struck during the incident. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after, but he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Officials have stated that no other vehicles or suspicious circumstances are believed to be involved.
The incident initially prompted a full shutdown of Interstate 275 eastbound, causing significant traffic delays throughout the morning. Multiple emergency agencies, including local police and fire departments, responded to assist at the scene before the highway was later reopened.
Authorities later classified the case as a work-related death investigation.
